16.11.1999, Phil Jones: I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.
4.6.2003, Michael Mann: I think that trying to adopt a timeframe of 2K, rather than the usual 1K, addresses a good earlier point that Peck made w/ regard to the memo, that it would be nice to try to „contain“ the putative „MWP“, even if we don’t yet have a hemispheric mean reconstruction available that far back.
21.2.2005, Phil Jones an Michael Mann: Francis Zwiers is till onside. He said that PC1s produce hockey sticks. He stressed that the late 20th century is the warmest of the millennium, but Regaldo didn’t bother with that. Also ignored Francis‘ comment about all the other series looking similar to MBH. The IPCC comes in for a lot of stick. Leave it to you to delete as appropriate !
Beispiele:
Phil Jones an Michael Mann 21.2.2005: I’m getting hassled by a couple of people to release the CRU station temperature data. Don’t any of you three tell anybody that the UK has a Freedom of Information Act !
Michael Mann an Phil Jones und Gabi Hegler 10.8.2004: Please feel free to use this code for your own internal purposes, but don’t pass it along where it may get into the hands of the wrong people.
Phil Jones an Michael Mann, 29.5.2008: Can you delete any emails you may have had with Keith re AR4? Keith will do likewise. He’s not in at the moment – minor family crisis. Can you also email Gene and get him to do the same?
Phil Jones and Michael Mann 27.4.2005: I got this email from McIntyre a few days ago. As far as I’m concerned he has the data – sent ages ago. I’ll tell him this, but that’s all – no code. If I can find it, it is likely to be hundreds of lines of uncommented fortran ! I recall the program did a lot more that just average the series. I know why he can’t replicate the results early on – it is because there was a variance correction for fewer series. See you in Bern.
Tim Jones an Keith Briffa und Phil Jones, 12.11.2003: Anyway, because McIntyre has now asked Mann directly for his data and programs, his request that *we* send McIntyre’s request to Mann has been dropped (I would have said „no“ anyway).
Beispiele:
Michael Mann, 11.3.2003: The Soon & Baliunas paper couldn’t have cleared a ‚legitimate‘ peer review process anywhere. That leaves only one possibility–that the peer-review process at Climate Research has been hijacked by a few skeptics on the editorial board. And it isn’t just De Frietas, unfortunately I think this group also includes a member of my own department…
The skeptics appear to have staged a ‚coup‘ at „Climate Research“.
…
My guess is that Von Storch is actually with them (frankly, he’s an odd individual, and I’m not sure he isn’t himself somewhat of a skeptic himself),
…
So what do we do about this? I think we have to stop considering „Climate Research“ as a legitimate peer-reviewed journal. Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal. We would also need to consider what we tell or request of our more reasonable colleagues who currently
sit on the editorial board.Phil Jones, 8.7.2004: The other paper by MM [vermutlich Ross McKitrick und Patrick Michaels] is just garbage – as you knew. De Freitas again. Pielke is also losing all credibility as well by replying to the mad Finn [keine Ahnung?] as well – frequently as I see it. I can’t see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report. Kevin and I will keep them out somehow – even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is !
Subject: John L. Daly dead
…
Mike,
In an odd way this is cheering news
